Haulage firm merger move agreed

Two haulage firms have announced plans to merge their operations in Scotland.

Twynholm-based Hayton Coulthard will be part of the joint-venture with the Scottish section of Devon company Gregory Distribution Ltd (GDL).

The new operation, to be rebranded as Hayton Coulthard Transport, will continue to be based in the south west of Scotland.

The firms said the move would allow them to continue to develop a “close and beneficial working relationship”.

‘Good news’

Gregory Distribution previously moved some of its fleet under the control of the Scottish group 10 years ago.

Duncan Coulthard, who will run the new operation, said the move would provide a “secure foundation” for the future.

He added: “Being part of a larger organisation without losing our identity is good news for both customers and staff in Scotland.”

John Gregory, of Gregory Distribution, said it hoped to build on the “strong reputation” of Hayton Coulthard north of the border.

The Scottish company has its headquarters in Twynholm with depots in Lockerbie and London and operates a fleet of 120 trailers.

The GDL Group has more than 1,200 employees and runs more than 400 vehicles with a turnover of more than £100m.

Working closely with our web development partner Rabbitdigital we have finished up with a brand new website with a fresh new look and packed with extra features.

Our main aim and brief to Rabbitdigital was to produce a website which is clean, easy to navigate and features all the services we offer to our clients.
